What is a vehicle?
I looked it up on all-knowing Google, and this is what it came up with:
It is important to consider both definitions when it comes to personal transportation. If we stick to the first definition, thinking of a car as simply basic transportation, then the following vehicle would be more than sufficient:
The Trabant was a “car for the people” designed and produced in East Germany after World War 2. It was created purely for the purpose of providing affordable personal transportation for the average person. It was crude and cheaply made, but it did what it was supposed to do.
However, the Trabant was not suitable for more sophisticated consumers in Western Europe or America. But why? In order to answer that question, we need to apply the second definition of vehicle. A car for most people is more than just a basic mode of transportation. Even non-enthusiasts still want certain features or capabilities in their personal vehicle. Air conditioning, cruise control, satellite radio, and all-wheel drive are examples of features that make a car more comfortable, accommodating, and useful.
And we haven’t even begun to consider the myriad of vehicle types available to the modern car buyer. From basic four-door sedans, to crossovers, SUV’s and pickups, there is a vehicle type for practically every purpose. When considering the type of vehicle for your personal use, it is extremely important to think about your individual lifestyle and what would best accommodate your daily needs. A basic sedan might be sufficient, but you may decide that the additional capabilities of a pickup or SUV are worth the extra owning & operating costs. Either way, since a car is such a significant purchase, both in terms of expense and how long you will likely own it, taking the time to sort out your particular needs and wants is time well spent. By keeping in mind the second definition of “vehicle,” you are much more likely to end up with a car that becomes more than just basic transportation, and becomes something that truly fulfills and embodies your individual personality and lifestyle.
